High-Resolution Mesoscale Atmospheric Model Prediction and Validation

Abstract

The long-term goals of this project are: (i) explore and test new techniques that can improve the application of the Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS tm)1 high-resolution nested grids, (ii) to develop new mesoscale model verification techniques to objectively validate the model forecast, (iii) to perform model validation, and (iv) use the validation results as guidance to improve COAMPS high-resolution grid forecasts.
