Environmental Assessment for Construction of Base Training Area, Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado

Abstract

The Department of the Air Force prepared a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) based upon the results of the Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate environmental issues and potential impacts associated with a proposal to construct a Base Training Area at Schriever Air Force Base (SAFB) in FY 2011. Alternatives evaluated were the Proposed Action, an Alternative Action, and the No Action Alternative. Project-specific and cumulative environmental consequences were analyzed for 13 resource areas, including air quality, biological resources (vegetation, wildlife, and threatened and endangered species), cultural resources, land use, noise, occupational safety and health pollution prevention, socioeconomic conditions, soils, water resources, wetlands, irretrievable commitment of resources, and environmental justice. The resource analysis determined that there would be no significant impacts to these resources as a result of the Proposed Action.
