Pulsed Power Applications of the Plasma Erosion Opening Switch

Abstract

The Plasma Erosion Opening Switch (PEOS) has been shown to be a useful tool in improving the operation of various pulsed power devices. Applications include prepulse suppression, risetime sharpening, pulse compression, and voltage and power multiplication. Successful modeling of the switch operation has been performed using a switch model coupled to a transmission line code under a variety of circumstances. Some examples ill ust rating switch operation as predicted by the switch model will be presented.
