Supplemental Environmental Assessment for the Nuclear and Space Security Tactics Training Center Project AFSPC053012 for Air Force Security Forces at Camp Guernsey, Wyoming
Abstract
Pursuant to provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), 42 U.S. Code 4321 et seq, implementing Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Regulations, 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1500-1508, and 32 CFR Part 989, Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP), the U.S. Air Force has conducted a supplemental assessment of the potential environmental consequences of changing the location of and constructing a Nuclear & Space Security Tactics Training Center (NSSTTC) at Camp Guernsey, Wyoming. F. E. Warren AFB is headquarters to the 90th Missile Wing, the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) unit that operates F. E. Warren AFB and its associated missile field. The 90th Missile Wing is responsible for Missile Alert Facilities and Launch Facilities supporting Minuteman Ill missiles. Missiles are deployed in an area encompassing 12,600 square miles in the states of Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. F. E. Warren AFB occupies 5,866 acres of federally owned land on the western edge of the City of Cheyenne in southeastern Wyoming. Camp Guernsey is owned by the State of Wyoming and is maintained by the Wyoming Army National Guard. The Camp serves as a training base for the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Army Reserve, U.S. Navy, Naval Reserves, U.S. Army, and the U.S. Air Force. Training for artillery, aviation, engineering, and other activities occurs at Camp Guernsey.
