Environmental Assessment for a Fighter Detachment Facility, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina

Abstract

Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as amended, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations implementing the act (40 CFR 1500- 1508), Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 6050.1 [Environmental Effects in the United States of DoD Actions (30 July 1979)], and the current version of the Air Force Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) (32 CFR Part 989)] implementing these regulations, the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base (AFB) has conducted an Environmental Assessment for a Fighter Detachment Facility, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. This action is needed to convert the temporary Fighter Detachment (FD) facilities at Shaw AFB to a permanent FD Facility in order to better fulfill the base s mission requirements. Air Combat Command has been tasked to make permanent several of the temporary FD sites established within its command, including the FD site at Shaw AFB.
