Analytical Approach to Target Detection and Localization at High-Frequency Bands Using Multipath Propagation

Abstract

The scope of this research project is to derive an analytical approach to target detection and localization at high frequency bands using multipath propagation. The target is unseen directly by the antennas (both transmitter TX and receiver RX), or out of the Light- Of-Sight (LOS) area, as being covered by the obstacles such as walls or buildings. This analysis is verified through the development of a 3D ElectroMagnetic (EM) model which is based on a combination between a RayTracing (RT) technique, Shooting and Bouncing Ray-tracing (SBR) and the asymptotic method Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD).
