Field Permeability Tests, Commerce Landing, Mississippi, and Wilson Point, Louisiana

Abstract

Observation made during the high water pf June 1942 on the performance of relief wells installed along the levees at Commerce Landing, and Trotters, Mississippi, and at Wilson Point, Louisiana, revealed that flow from the wells was greater than anticipated in the original design of the systems. This increased flow was attributed to a more pervious foundation and/or to a closer seepage entrance on the riverside of the levee than was assumed in the design.
