A New Approach to Electrical Characterization of Exploding Foil Initiators

Abstract

In a previous study on electrical characterization of Exploding Foil Initiators (EFIs), a general statistical model was developed that expresses the probability of detonation of EFls as a function of the power delivered to the bridgefoil at burst and the rate of current rise. This memorandum presents the statistical procedure applicable to EFI electrical characterization and describes the proper experimental methodology. Experimental results are given and processed to illustrate the methodology.
