United States Army, Seventh Army Field Order No. 1 (ANVIL)

Abstract

This document discusses the planning regarding Seventh Army, supported by Western Naval Task Force and XII Tactical Air Command, will assault the South coast of France, secure a beachhead east of Toulon and then assault and capture Toulon. The Naval Commander, Western Task Force, will command the entire seaborne expedition from the time of sailing until the ground forces are firmly established ashore; thereafter command of ground operations passes to the Commanding General, Seventh Army. XII tactical Air Command will support the operation. Addition air support by MATAF will be available to Commanding General, XII Tactical Air Command, on request.
