Installation Flightline Fence Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

Abstract

Moody AFB proposes to construct and install a chain link fence around the perimeter of the airfield and flightline to mark the legal and physical boundaries of the restricted areas as a force protection initiative. The fence will consist of six-foot chain link with 3 strands of barbed wire across the top and with 12 gates. The fence will be installed approximately 5 to 15 feet from the existing paved road on all sides. The three alternatives to the proposed action are: A) alternative route to avoid forested area in southeast corner of airfield; B) alternative route to follow 1,000-foot clear zone through the forested area in southeast corner of airfield; and, C) the no action alternative.
