An Omnidirectional FM Monitor Hydrophone for Low-Frequency Towed Projectors

Abstract

An omnidirectional standard hydrophone has been developed for accurately determining the sound-pressure level of an underwater, highpower, towed projector through a common multiconductor tow cable. This monitor hydrophone reduces the effect of electrical crosstalk between individual conductors over the system bandwidth of 10 Hz to 10 kHz. Preliminary measurements show reductions in crosstalk of up to 60 dB using this system.
