Criteria for Setting Airborne Noise Level Limits in Shipboard Spaces

Abstract

In this report criteria are presented to guide the specification writer in the preparation of airborne-noise specifications for ship spaces. The psycho-acoustic effects of various levels of noise are described. Measured noise levels in several typical spaces are compared with the criteria. The criteria are summarized in Tables 1 and 2.
