Calculation of Pressure Distribution on Airship Hulls

Abstract

Pressure distribution on airship hulls was calculated for the symmetrical and unsymmetrical cases. It is shown that the pressure distribution resulting from the potential theory for bodies of revolution can be approximated in a relatively simple manner by covering the axis of symmetry stepwise with sources or double sources. Even in cases in which the method suggested offers no accurate solution, the potential in the surrounding space can be ascertained to any desired degree of approximation by increasing the fineness of division of the line sources.
