Viscoelastic Properties of Plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride.

Abstract

MASTER CURVES IN STRESS-RELAXATION FOR SEVERAL SAMPLES OF POLYVINYL CHLORIDE PLASTICIZED BY VARY ING PROPORTIONS OF DIOCTYL PHTHALATE (DI(2 ETHYL HEXYLPHTHALATE)) ARE REPORTED AND DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF PLASTICIZER CONCENTRATION AND POLYMER STRUCTURE. MODULUS-TEMPERATURE CURVES DERIVED FROM THE DATA ARE ALSO SHOWN. COMPARISONS ARE GIVEN OF PLASTICIZED COMPOSITIONS OF POLYVINYL CHLORIDE AND POLYSTYRENE. THE USEFUL COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES OF POLYVINYL CHLORIDE ARE DISCUSSED IN THE LIGHT OF DATA ON THE POLYMER STRUCTURE AND PLASTICIZER ACTION. (AUTHOR-PL).
