Project SQUID: Heat Transfer and Cooling. Volume 1, Part 5
Abstract
Heat-transfer problems connected with cooling of rocket engines are being investigated. Determination of coefficients for heat transfer by convection under conditions of high temperatures and Reynolds Numbers, variable flow rates, and convergent-divergent nozzles is discussed. Cooling by radiation, heretofore unconsidered, is very Important in high-energy rocket engtnes. Principles of convection, radiation, film, sweat, and regenerative cooling methods are outlined in detail. Cooling by use of porous materials is considered promising.
