Project SQUID. Bulletin of the Instrumentation Panel. Number 2
Abstract
The material covered by Project Squid during this period deals with the techniques and instrumentation in the field of jet and rocket propulsion. Papers are contributed by scientists and engineers, working in this field throughout the country. The items covered are instruments for measuring gas temperatures under transient conditions; a shielded thermocouple for gas turbines; a cantilever strain gage for high temperature tensile and creep tension of sheet materials; a device for comparing pressure pick-ups; a comparison of the sodium line reversal and infrared emission spectra methods of flame temperature determination. Other information is presented on thermocouple-welding techniques, and scale formation in water-cooled gas-sampling probes.
