Magnetic Tests of Spot Welds on 1/4 Inch Structural Nickel Steel Plate,
Abstract
This report covers the work done in studying the possibility of determining the physical strength characteristics of spot welds on structural nickel steel plate by a method of magnetic analysis developed by the Magnetic Analysis Corp. of Long Island City, N.Y. The object of this study was: (1) To determine whether this method of non-destructive testing might be of any value for examining spot welds. (2) To compare the results of X-Ray examination with the results of magnetic analysis. and (3) To determine whether the previously determined strength of single spot welded joints would agree with that of the individual spots in a joint containing a number of spot welds.
