Investigation on the Welding of High-Strength Aluminum Alloys.

Abstract

This is the fifth progress report on the investigation on the welding of high-strength aluminum alloys. This report describes the preliminary studies and comparison tests made on the deposition characteristics of various experimental aluminum-alloy filler rods and the strength properties of the weld metals deposited with them. The object of this work was to select or develop filler metals which would produce welds superior to those now available. In addition, a few test data are reported which are checks on the results of previous work.
