Investigation on the Welding of High-Strength Aluminum Alloys.
Abstract
The third progress report is on the investigation on the welding of thick plates of high-strength aluminum alloys. The high-strength alloy plates (24ST, 61SW, 61ST, 75SW, and 75ST) were received in October, 1947, and welding tests of these materials have been started. In addition to tests of welded joints in thick 2S aluminum plate, tension tests of all-weld-metal specimens from welds in the 2S plate made with 2S and 43S filler metals are also covered.
