Sintered Iron Rotating Bands.
Abstract
This Report No. 1 is a transcription of the notes made during visits to the various German plants that were engaged in fabricating sintered iron rotating bands or in producing iron powders for use in bands. These notes, which are arranged in chronological order, not only provide a general picture of the development of the sintered iron bands but also reflect the personalities and political considerations that influenced the course of the development. A picture of these background considerations is essential in evaluating the technical details that will be given in the succeeding reports under this contract.
