Analysis of Design on Tujunga Wash Channel Improvement, Los Angeles River to Hansen Dam, Magnolia Boulevard to Vanowen Street, Station 110+00 to Station 222+00, Mile 2.08 to Mile 4.20.

Abstract

The principal item of improvement on this reach is the action of a rectangular reinforced concrete channel 70 feet with wall heights varying from 12.5 to 14.5 feet. The improvement will require the reconstruction of two existing highway bridges and construction of three new highway bridges. Other agencies will accomplish the construction of these bridges. The construction of a shoofly and new railway bridge will be accomplished under this contract. Other structures included in the subject project are one inlet spillway structure over the top of the channel wall, and one side inlet structure with a connection to one existing corrugated metal pipe 12 inches in diameter. Seven water lines of diameters varying from 8 inches to 48 inches, five gas lines, four telephone lines, and five power and telephone poles must be relocated.
