Armor Plate: Metallurgical Examination of Section of German Face-Hardened Armor from the Front of a PZ. KW. III Tank

Abstract

The object of this 1942 report was to conduct a metallurgical investigation of the subject armor including chemical analysis, hardness survey, determination of physical properties, and macroscopic and microscopic examination. The subject armor is a medium high carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy steel that was probably deoxidized with aluminum and titanium.
