Manufacture of Sintered Iron Rotating Bands for HE, 75 mm M48E2 Shell.

Abstract

The object of this program was to manufacture for the subject shell, sintered and wax impregnated iron rotating bands with an average density after seating of 5.45 + or - 0.05 g/cc. This report outlines the procedures followed in processing iron bands for HE, 75 mm M48E2 Shell; namely compacting, sintering, wax impregnation, seating and machining.
