Armor Plate: Metallographic Study of Effects of Saleh Process on 1/4 in. and 1/16 in. Armor Plates,

Abstract

The Saleg process does not produce favorable structural effects in the armor plates studied in this investigation. In some cases, the Saleh Process produces no effect on armor plate. In some cases, the Saleh Process produces on the surface of armor plate a thin, hard, brittle layer having an average depth of 0.0008-in. In some cases, the Saleh Process produces throughout the armor plate a network structure which may be associated with brittleness.
