Prime Contract Awards, Size Distribution, Fiscal Year 1973

Abstract

This report provides data of prime contract actions over $10,000 (500, 000 for older years) awarded by the Department of Defense. For reporting purposes, contracts have been distributed by dollar value into 11 different size categories. The tables provide information on the number of total actions, their net value, and their percent distributions by size and according to a variety of categories, including awarding agency, type of contract involved, type of contract action taken, and competitive status. Table 1 presents data by individual size category (e.g., $10,000 to $24,000; $25,000 to $49,000), while Tables 2 through 5 present data in cumulative categories (e.g., $10,000 or more) ; $25,000 or more). This information assists DoD management in projecting the workload that will be required by various proposed projects. These data can also be used to identify trends in DoD procurement, e.g., to identify which one of the various types of contracts was most frequently awarded.
