MEDUCOMP - Medical Uses of Computers: Development of a Pilot Information System.

Abstract

The real and potential application of computer technology to medicine is expanding at a geometric rate. The Army has recognized the importance of making information about this application available to its medical researchers and practitioners. This recognition has led to a plan for establishing an information center devoted to the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information about computer applications in medicine. The Scientific and Technical Information Division of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command has one of its missions the establishment of this information center to serve all of the personnel of the Army Surgeon General's Office. This U/A report describes the work on the development of this center. This work involves the definition of the Center's scope, collection, abstracting, indexing, and microfilming of documents, and the preparation of an index of terms.
