Development of Procedure for Casting and Heat Treating Vertically Cast Cored Steel Plate,
Abstract
The purpose of this project was to develop a procedure for casting and heat treating vertically cast cored plate and to furnish small pieces of this plate for test purposes and evaluation. (1) Vertically cast, cored, steel plate was produced by the procedures outlined in this report. (2) The desired physical properties can be obtained in the metallic portion of the casting through the use of a high temperature homogenization, austenitize, quench, and tempering treatment.
