Study and Development of Light-Armor Consisting of Non-Metallic or a Combination of Metallic and Non-Metallic Materials.
Abstract
A new saturant for the light weight armor was developed that showed possibilities. Samples of the panels laminated with the old and new saturants were subjected to 100% Relative Humidity and 160F for 12 days without appreciable distortion, increase in weight or loss in ballistic properties. A combination was developed for the eye shild that withstood striking velocities of 1755 feet per second, withstood delaminated better than any previous combinations and was fairly good optically.
