Abstract
This manual is intended for use with U. S. Army Specification 57-103A 'Specification for Gun Forgings for the United States Army and Navy' when gun forgings of any type or size are procured for Ordnance work. It is also usable with specifications covering the procurement of forgings for Breechblocks. The manual indicates methods of preparation of test pieces for macroetching and current standards for the interpretation of structures disclosed for macroetching.
