Histopathologic Recognition of Posterior Segment Lesions Produced by Red Near Intra-Red Laser Radiation.

Abstract

The Department was involved in (1) Planning and developing a standardized system of processing monkey eyes with the specific aim of studying laser lesions under light microscopy; and (2) Prepare a significant number of specimens in order to make correlative data available. A system was developed which formed a high probability of locating and identifying lesions if they were present. The key features of the process are: Fixation; Impregnation; Processing; Sectioning; Staining.
