Cold and Wet: Estimated Survival Time in Global Waters

Abstract

Two-thirds of the earth's surface is covered with water and the chances of aircrews having to ditch of such odds as to warrant serious consideration of the problems involved in water survival. This Air Force Study discusses what your survival time is, how to increase your water survival time. A series of maps by region for each month of the year shows the reader how much survival time to expect from 3/4 hours to more than 12 hours.
