Bi and Quad Cable Arrays System Evaluation Data Report. Volume 2. Mechanics of Cable Mooring Systems.

Abstract

This report documents and summarzes in tabular form the data developed in the evaluation of both a Bi and Quad-Moored cable array system containing a large cylindrical member. Parametric variance of both physical and environmental parameters, to define each systems displacement susceptability under directional jydrodynamic loadings were carried out. The physical parameters of interest included the cylinder length and diameter; anchor span; cable length, weight, and diameter; anchor span; cable length, wirght, and diameter; and the degree of positive buoyancy placed on the system. Structural systems with nominal heights of 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 ft. were considered. The enviromental parameters of interest were the current velocity and direction. The results defined by the analysis include the array configuration, internal force distribution within the cables, anchor reactions, external force distribution produced by directional currents, displacements of the cables and orientation of the moored cylinder, measured from the static equilibrium position of the system when hydrodynamic loads are absent.
