Technology Breakdown Structure of Physical and Performance Characteristics of Ocean Construction Platforms,

Abstract

A technology breakdown structure (TBS) of the physical and performance characteristics (parametric descriptors) of O/C platforms is given. This is a systematic division/grouping of parametric descriptors into generic categories (TBS elements) that consistute 'in toto' the means of defining the characteristics and capabilities of a specific platform. The TBS is displayed as a block diagram with a separate narrative that defines each TBS element using standard/accepted definitions, symbols and units of measure where available. The TBS narrative identifies conventional methods of calculation and/or measurement of each TBS element, where applicable, and includes a discussion of its applicability to O/C platforms. A list of documents that provide detailed discussion of a specific TBS element is provided in the narrative of the element. The block diagram of the Technology Breakdown Structure is given in Section I of this report. This is followed by the narrative definition of the various TBS elements in Section II and a list of references of source material is added at the end of this latter section.
