Air Transport of Standard 60-Inch Searchlight,
Abstract
This report covers an investigation to determine the most practicable method of modifying General Electric 60-inch Searchlight Equipment, Model 1942, for the transportation in C-47 large or small door cargo planes, and the most suitable procedures for loading the modified searchlight equipment in these planes. Several preliminary modifications of the searchlight equipment were made and tested for suitability by loading a mockup of the C-47 cargo plane. The final modification of the searchlight equipment, the auxiliary loading equipment required, and the method of loading were all checked in actual C-47 cargo planes of the large and small door types.
