Report on the Archaeological Survey of the Mankato Flood Control Project,

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to identify archaeological resources present in the areas to be altered during or as a result of the Army Corps of Engineers Flood Control Project in the Mankato area, and to evaluate the historic and prehistoric importance of these resources. Prehistoric resources recovered from the West Sibley Park area indicate that the proposed construction will damage or destroy a valuable multi-component archaeological site with occupations spanning an estimated 6000 years.
