Behavioral Baselines for the Experimental Study of Uremia.

Abstract

This project was directed toward the development and utilization of behavioral baselines for the experimental study of uremia in primates. The experimental approach was based upon the integration of selected behavioral, biochemical, surgical and electrophysiological techniques. This work emphaseized the behavioral dimensions of such an approach. The development of an appropriate experimental model for the study of uremia in monkeys was completed. Through use of this model we were able to make a significant breakthrough in understanding of the disease by demonsetrating that urea i an important pathaogenetic factor.
