Project SQUID. A Program of Fundamental Research on Liquid Rocket and Pulse Jet Propulsion

Abstract

Progress has been made on investigations of reed valve inflow process and on design of rotating sleeve valve. Henry high-speed fatigue testing machine is being changed for use at high temperatures. In connection with supersonic flow, general three-dimensional dynamic equations were set up for perfect gas flow, including viscosity, conduction, and convection. Carbides and nitrides are being investigated for the purpose of applying them to engine materials through powder metallurgy.
