Transportation for Portable Pipe Line 2-1/2 Ton Pipe Line Truck and Trailer.
Abstract
This report covers the development and testing of the 2-1/2 ton pipe line truck body and special, two-wheel, pole type, pipe trailer. Tests involving transportation of pipe using the trailer both as a semi and full trailer were made and the truck was tested by loading and transporting various types of pipe line pumping equipment both at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Further tests were conducted at Camp Tyson, Tennessee by the Barrage Balloon Board using the truck to load and transport winches. Based on these tests and with minor modifications in the design that have been incorporated in the applicable drawings, the 2-1/2 ton pipe line truck is considered satisfactory and recommended for adoption and standardization.
