Similarity Analysis of Dynamics Problems Incorporating Viscoelastic Material Behavior.

Abstract

Dynamic behavior of continuous media is a problem which must necessarily be considered in the design of vehicular systems or any system which will experience significant dynamic loads. It is true that much design can be accomplished by approximating the structure in question as a finite degrees-of-freedom system. However, in order to understand response and possible failure mechanisms of individual components, particularly with respect to impact loading, local analysis must treat the region as a deformable continuum.
