A Cultural Resources Survey of the La Grue Bayou Permit Area, Prairie County, Arkansas.

Abstract

An intensive survey for prehistoric and historic resources was conducted during September 1981 within the La Grue Bayou permit area, located in southeastern Prairie County, Arkansas. The study methods included a review of published literature, examination of archival sources, a cartographic review and field examination of the areas which may be impacted by the proposed permit action. Two prehistoric sites and one historic site were identified during the field investigations. Testing was performed by the Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, at one of these sites (3PR41). Test results indicate that the site fails to meet criteria for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
