Projectile Measurements and Instrumentation Laboratory Mass Property Measurements

Abstract

The basic theory and techniques for measuring the mass properties of test models as performed in the Projectile Measurements and Instrumentation Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base are described. The intent is to provide an insight into the principles on which mass property measuring instruments are designed and an understanding of the pitfalls to be avoided and the difficulties involved in obtaining a correct measurement of physical quantities, with the types of instruments available.
