Ten Years of Meteorological Data at Ocean Weather Station PAPA,

Abstract

The ocean weather station records provide a wealth of meteorological and oceanographic data. A ten year data record (January 1958 to December 1967) of the standard 3-hourly observations from the Canadian meteorological Service was obtained. Time series plots of the data were prepared which reveal a great deal about the meteorological variations in the open mid-latitude Pacific. The raw data were gathered by the Canadian Meteorological Service at Ocean Weather Station, PAPA(hereafter called Station P) at 50 deg N, 145 deg W using two research vessels which alternately patrol the station for periods of six weeks. The data are supplied in standard 80 column International meteorological format on digital magnetic tapes.
