GFU-6/E 30mm Ammunition Loader for GAU-8A Gun System

Abstract

This effort involved the technical evaluation of an engineering model; design, fabrication and testing of the prototype; delivery of the system to Eglin AFB, Florida for gun system interface and technical assistance during the test and evaluation at Edwards AFB, California. A single prototype was constructed. Descriptions and details of the system and its operation are included and safety, reliability and maintainability features are discussed. Recommendations for engineering changes for a production loader are also included.
