Development of HME Laminating Resin

Abstract

The HME resin formulation and synthesis procedure were optimized to yield a stable resin. Composite and honeycomb sandwich panels were vacuum bag molded and provided low resin flow during cure. The resultant composite and sandwich panels demonstrated excellent moisture resistance and suitability for service at 275 F. Also the cocured sandwich panels provided equivalent flatwise tensile strength values to secondary bonded panels.
