Vuilleumier Cooler Wear Rate Test Program

Abstract

The report describes the current status of the Vuilleumier cryogenic refrigerator wear rate test program. The primary purpose of this program is to experimentally verify the projected long term operating capabilities of dry lubricated, Vuilleumier cycle cryogenic refrigerators and to investigate design alternatives for extending the endurance limits of the refrigerators. Preliminary testing has begun. Decisions on what to test and how to test have been made. The main testing work of the program is yet to be accomplished.
