Short-Range Radio Communications System for Military Operations in Built-up Areas

Abstract

Dispersive-surface-acoustic wave devices were employed in an experimental spread-spectrum communications system for the transmission of voice and tone signals via radio and via urban media. A short-range clandestine communications capability was demonstrated with this system competing with standard VHF radio transceivers.
