An Analysis of the Deployment of the 235th Aviation Company (Attack Helicopter)

Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide a documentary narrative of the use of a barge-ship system for oversea movement of weapons systems and equipment of a US Army unit. This study identifies technical and operational shortcomings and recommends improvements in techniques for transporting Army aircraft in a near fly-away configuration by the modern sealift assets available. It was found that by using high density loading procedures US Army units could be transported efficiently and economically on the SEABEE ship system.
