Integrated Computer-Aided Manufacturing (ICAM).

Abstract

The soundness of the concept of a common framework that displays all the functions of discrete parts manufacturing is demonstrated. The detailed relaionships of those functions are also shown in the composite architecture of manufacturing. This architecture was defined by a coalition of manufacturing companies. This further demonstrates that parochial differences between companies can be overcome allowing a common understanding of manufacturing to emerge. In addition to the composite architecture, models of generic subsystems are presented. (Author)
