Target Recognition System Design: Computational Structures with Response Time Characteristics Dictated by the Operational Environment.

Abstract

Alternative state-of-the-art computational structures for implementing nonparametric classifiers are developed and analyzed from the viewpoint of their abilities to meet the response time requirements imposed by the application, viz, tactical target recognition in combat environments. Minimum response time, as well as worst case (min max) design requirements, are addressed. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented to bring out the relative merits of the different alternatives considered by the study. (Author)
