Thermoplastic Lifetime.

Abstract

This report describes an experimental effort to measure the outgassing rate of thermoplastic materials and to cycle thermoplastic materials to determine their lifetime. An upper bound of 27 times 10 to the -7 Torr-L/S/sq cm was obtained for the outgassing rate of the thermoplastic when it is maintained at a temperature of 90 C. Cycling at 4 Hz and 10 Hz was observed but due to equipment malfunctions later material difficulties, etc., lifetime was not measured. (Author)
